Students will compile a portfolio of their work throughout the course. Updating it as the course progresses as they help with make-up at local Theatres, Television productions and Fashion shoots. This portfolio used for job interviews after graduation.
     
 


APPLICATION

IF A STUDENT WITHDRAWS FROM THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BALANCE OF THE FEES AND
NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED

All students living in South Africa will be required to attend an interview and a copy of their ID as well as a copy of their parent or guardian’s ID

Foreign students need to supply a student visa and copy of passport on application of the course.

DURATION OF COURSE
THE MAKE-UP ISSUE Certificate in artistic make-up, film and television make-up and special effects is awarded to all students who pass the examinations.  Students will also submit a thesis and portfolio that will be awarded a percentage and added to the final examination mark. The duration of the full time make-up course is 6 months. Part time course duration is 12 months on Saturday mornings. The make-up and hair course, do run concurrently.

EXAMINATIONS
At the end of the course there will be a 1-week exam as follows:
Day 1: Beauty make-up (i.e. day, night, wedding, matric farewell etc.)
Day 2: Fashion make-up (i.e. ramp, photographic, television etc.)
Day 3: Theatre make-up (i.e. ageing, geisha, ballet, fantasy etc.)
Day 4: Special effects (i.e. cut off leg & fingers, burns, bullet wounds etc.)
Day 5: 3-hour theory exam

• Students will not be allowed to do exams if the course fee is not paid in full.

COURSE FEE
The fee includes all tuition and basic kit. Students keep everything that they make in school – beards, bald caps projects, etc. which will be useful to them when applying for work. Please note: terms are available. Course fees are subject to change in 2007 without prior notice.

WELCOME PACK
On the first day of the course students will be issued with a basic make-up kit. The pack includes professional make-up brushes and a kit of make-up for both beauty and stage work (including materials such as, eyeshadows, foundations, lipsticks, blushers, sponges, latex, film blood, special plastic, moulding putty, etc.)
